Calgary Stampede runs from July 3 to 12 (2026). For a good part of the city, that means ten days of road closures, packed patios, a calendar full of obligations and the kind of noise that tends to follow you from one end of the city to the other.
For golfers, it also means one of the weakest tee sheet windows at most Calgary-area courses: weekend rounds are crowded, midweek rates do not always reflect the reduced demand and the whole city is running at a different frequency than a proper golf trip deserves.

The Columbia River is below the blufftop the resort sits on. Neither of those things are available anywhere near Stampede.

The Columbia Valley also has breweries and distilleries in Invermere and the surrounding area if you want something to do on the afternoon between an early round and dinner. The valley is not short of reasons to stay an extra night.
